Show 001: The Anna Margaret Show

Show 001: The Anna Margaret Show is our very first burlesque show at The Pink Speakeasy to honor our late matriarch, Anna Margaret, the reason The Pink Speakeasy exists.

She was a showgirl in her own right, traveling internationally performing on stages all over the world as a Katherine Dunham dancer in the 1940s, breaking barriers in the process. When she retired, she opened a dance studio to give space to others to express their creativity as she was able to do.

With The Pink Speakeasy we honor her legacy to grant that same space… but in pink!

Our very first show will be our showgirl’s apartment speakeasy and burlesque experience with burlesque performances, high tea eats with sweet and savory pastries, and Prohibition-era inspired cocktails 🍸

This show is a friends and family show however, booking this experience will be available really soon 💕

Who is Anna Margaret?

Anna Grayson (formerly known as Anna Smith and affectionately as Anna Margaret) was a Katherine Dunham dancer in the 1940s and 1950s as well as credited as a Wardrobe Mistress while on tours with the company. From her experience with the Katherine Dunham Dance Co she had her own vision on the revolution of dance. Anna Grayson along with her son Jo Jo Smith and partner Sue Samuels founded Jo Jo's Dance Factory together in downtown Manhattan. Anna Grayson's role was the executive director while Jo Jo Smith and Sue Samuels ran the creative operations. Jo Jo's Dance Factory is now known as Broadway Dance Center which is still operating till this day.

She is our late matriarch (the founders, Mignon's mother and Tehja's grandmother). She was a force to be reckon with and had many achievements throughout her life, but at the center of it all was allowing creativity to express itself freely and being able to give the space to allow others to do so.

She is the inspiration for The Pink Speakeasy. To create that safe space for artists to express their creativity and be full of joy while doing so. We are just doing it in pink!

NIKKI BELLANOVA - PERFORMER - PRODUCER - HOST

Nikki started her burlesque career in Los Angeles performing classic burlesque all over Southern California including residences at venues such as Delilah, Next Door Lounge, and La Boheme. She started her own production company, House of Bellanova, in 2022 which is when she started producing shows in the Los Angeles area, including the weekly Wednesday Burlesque Night at Shoo Shoo Baby in downtown LA that’s going on its fourth year. She’s also produced a vintage prohibition-era cabaret called Sultry Stimulus Hour, as well as the cannabis friendly, Smoke Show, at The Artist Tree Cannabis Lounge in West Hollywood. In 2024 she partnered with the french restaurant and bar, Zinqué, to bring burlesque shows to their downtown LA venue and their Santa Monica venue, Massilia. She still travels back to the west coast to produce and perform in these productions for Zinqué.

She has since relocated to New York City, and is now performing at venues such as the iconic Slipper Room, Employees Only, Maison Close, and more. You can see Nikki perform every Thursday with a live jazz band at Saint Tuesday in the basement of the Walker Hotel in Tribeca, and every Friday at the astrology speakeasy, Little Dipper in Midtown Manhattan. Nikki also performs at private events all over New York City, the Hamptons, Long Island, and New York’s surrounding states.

AUDREY LOVE - PERFORMER

Born in New York City but raised along the east coast, Audrey Love grew up fascinated with old Hollywood glamour, burlesque and pin up. It wasn’t long before the showgirl transformation began when she started Go-go dancing at NYC’s famous Webster Hall.

Performing Striptease since 2013, in venues on both coasts such as Tease if you please at the Globe Theater, Slipper Room, Nurse Bettie, and many more.

Taking audiences on a journey of seduction, Audrey Love is known for her slow burn style of burlesque and eyes that make you melt.You can find her on the iconic stages of Duane Park NYC and Dancing in the heart of Times Square.

SAM EYE AM - PERFORMER

Sam Eye Am, The Blue-Eyed Bombshell™️, has taken the NYC burlesque and nightlife scene by storm - both as a performer and a producer. She dances regularly at the iconic staples Duane Park and The Box NYC , and she’s a resident performer and producer at NSFW.
Sam has also danced on many of NYC’s well-known nightlife stages outside of her regular venues, including Nurse Bettie, House of Yes, Slipper Room, Arlene’s Grocery, and DROM.
You can find Sam as featured background actress on High Fidelity and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. This Bombshell can also be seen in Christian Louboutin’s Loubiairways campaign to debut his Fall-Winter 2021 collection.

While she performs full time in NYC, this Bombshell LOVES to travel! In 2022, she spent a month touring in Europe, performing at several different venues in Ireland, Portugal, and Italy.
